Jessie Owens 1936

This painting celebrates the legendary American athlete Jessie Owens, who won 4 gold medals at the Berlin 1936 Olympics, in front of Germany’s Chancellor Adolph Hitler (who’s social Darwinist/Nazi theory of racial superiority put Negros on one of the lowest rungs). This artwork includes a number of obvious, as well as hidden symbols, such the number 4, and his record-breaking times for the 100 and 200 meter races.
