Theodor Herzl 1860-1904

This picture celebrates Theodore Herzl, the father of modern political Zionism. It includes a number of obvious and hidden symbols such as 1896, the year he published "The Jewish State", which outlined his compelling case for Jews to leave Europe and move to their historic homeland, and his sketches for a shekel coin and flag.
